Everybody should have a decent portrait
Well... All of us have ups and downs. As well as the mirror in the premises. On one hand, the mirror is a moment of self-adjustments, same as infamous 'selfie' - this is the kind of 'your look', which you believe you're alright with. The rest of time is spent in the unconscious self-estimate regime and this is the most natural version of you. Now let's roll back to ups and downs. In the period of 'down-time', especially if it takes too much time for some reason, you really start forgetting your better days version as you're trying to cope with the presence. This is when the mirror isn't helpful anymore and more than that - 'selfies'. It is more easy to retain confidence and pride when there's a documentary proof of your best features. Once during such of periods I received a bunch of passport photos from one of the chain photo stores and the result shocked me deeply. This photo should be on the documents which will be kept and used for years. No way, that's not me! I don't want even believe that moody and tired person would be me. This is it. A good portrait, either in a document, or on the desk/wall mount is a clear reflection of the best of you. One of my fellows said once: "Portrait? No way, it's so scary! Nowhere to hide away! There's only my face in a frame." I smiled to both facts - such a sincere thought, and exactly at the right address. It might look scary as a matter of confidence, but it's purely build-up trust between the people.
